Best Hostels for Cyclists
Rural, rural, rural! The further you are from a large city the better the hostel. If the hostel is inconvenient or out in the country, you know it must have a really cool vibe or other perks. For example, I worked at a hostel in Florence Italy. It was outside the city and you had to walk up this crazy steep hill to get to the hostel after you got off the bus. However, it was worth it.
The hostel used to be an 800-year-old monastery. They had the original Frescos of the walls of the Last Supper and you sleep in bunks that the nuns would have slept in. The hostel also has its own museum of ancient Roman Coins found on the property. The hostel also had a nice pasta on the patio overlooking Florence. You got a glass of wine to drink while you watched the sunset over Florence. It is one of the best hostels I have ever visited.
If the hostel has a great location, generally they don’t have to try to get you to the hostel. My hostel is next to Big Ben so people will just come because they want to see Big Ben. However, rural hostels have to be more creative they have to make them a party hostel or an ancient monastery since demand is low.
Also, rural hostels need people because more people are looking to go to the city. I always go in the opposite direction of the flow of people because demand is lowest there and you can get a good deal.
For the cyclist, you don’t have to worry about traffic to get a good ride. I like living in areas where I can go from my doorway into the mountains to cycle. I don’t want to be forced to drive somewhere to go for a bike ride. Also, rural hostels can store your bike inside and you will have lots of space to work on your bike. You will most likely have a private room if you are in a small rural hostel too which is much better than being stuck in a 23-bed dorm in London.
I don’t like cities but this is my viewpoint on it what is yours?
